MSI Wind Compact AC Adapter

Yesterday I received my new compact AC adapter for my MSI Wind netbook. I purchased this adapter because I was tired of the bulky power brick that was in the middle of the OEM charging cord and needed something smaller to travel with.

As you can see in the above video the power brick in this cable is located where the cord plugs into the wall, keeping it out of the way and easy to deal with. I can now sit far away from the wall outlet without having to worry about the bulky power brick getting in the way. The picture below illustrates just how much smaller the new adapter is when compared side by side to the stock adapter packaged with the Wind.

Old vs. New

Overall I am very pleased with this recent purchase. I have used the adapter twice today to charge my MSI Wind. The charge time seems to be exactly what I was getting before with the normal AC adapter. Normally while charging, once the battery is fully charged the adapter cuts off the flow to the Wind eliminating overcharging.  Unfortunately, I am not 100% sure if the new adapter does this. Also the length of the cord is only about half of what the OEM charging cord is. So, if you need to be far away from an outlet this solution may not suit you.

I recommend this adapter to anyone who is constantly on the go with their netbook and is looking for a more practical charging solution to carry around with them. My netbook bag is now less bulky and I can now easily charge my netbook. Finally, the $15 price point makes this an unbeatable deal.
